What people are saying about Express Yourself Today...
"My family and I are extremely grateful for the help Dari gave our daughter during a stressful time in her life. Dari is a warm, encouraging, friendly person who made my daughter feel comfortable and helped her ease the anxiety she was experiencing in just a few visits. We can't thank Dari enough for her help and would whole-heartedly recommend her to others as an extremely professional and effective therapist!"
"Over the past 3 years, Dari has helped me through several major stages in my life. I originally went to her when I was a Senior in high school. At that time, I needed guidance about my discovered sexual orientation and the struggles that accompanied being in a relationship. A few years later, I returned to her after I experienced anxiety attacks and thoughts of suicide as a result of being over stressed at college. I am thankful for Dari every day for all that she has done to help me organize my thoughts and understand how to get the most out of my life. She's taught me numerous coping strategies that I still rely on every day."
"In a situation where our formerly outgoing and bubbly teen daughter had turned into a rejective and depressed stranger who hated us and hated her life, we were desperate for help. Dari was able to reach our daughter and open her up to communicating with her family again, a turnaround that was truly miraculous. She now says that it is "crazy" how much Dari helped her in every aspect of her life. She now is the bubbly teenager again that we knew. Not free of drama of course, but free of hatred and depression. Words cannot express how grateful we are to Dari for giving us back our daughter."
"About a year ago, I sought the help of a professional to help my children deal with divorce. I was at a point that I felt helpless with my kids and burdened by the things they were going through. It was not an easy time at all. I was so relieved the first time I met Dari. She was professional, warm and had a wealth of knowledge and resources to use with the kids. She was and still is a safe haven for the kids; someone who is there for them, to listen and be their advocate. As their parent, I felt like I could not always give them the answers they were looking for because I was dealing with so much myself. Dari taught the kids tools to use to help them cope with the feelings they were going through. These same tools will carry with them for the rest of their lives. She truly has an amazing understanding about children and a realistic attitude on life. The care she provided not only made a huge impact on the kids, but on our family as a whole. I would recommend her whole heartedly and can never thank her enough for her work."
"My daughter, who is 14 years old, struggled emotionally after her father's death 6 years ago. She was unable to sleep in her bed alone and was experiencing anxiety attacks every time she had to stay overnight anywhere, including her grandparent's house. Dari helped my daughter overcome her fear. After several sessions, my daughter was able to sleep in her room alone and has even started enjoying world travel by herself! We are forever grateful for Dari's amazing expertise and ability to connect with children. She brought JOY back into our life again."
"We cannot say enough great things about Dari!!! After my divorce, I carried a lot of guilt for not being able to save my marriage. My daughter who was 5 years old at the time struggled with anxiety, sleep disturbances, and behavior issues at home and school. I felt like I was losing control and didn't know where to turn. Dari skillfully worked with me to come up with more effective parenting strategies. Within weeks, the structure I had lost was regained and we were back on track!!! My daughter is now sleeping through the night and demonstrating better listening skills. Our relationship is so much better. I'm more relaxed and not yelling and she's not crying all of the time. Dari set us on the right track and we are so grateful to her. She took things that were so difficult for us and simplified it. Dari really knows how to identify the problem and provide a strategy to correct it. Life has gotten so much easier!!!"
"As a mother of a 16 year old boy, I would like to take the time to express my heartfelt thanks to Dari for the understanding and patience she has shown to my child, as well as myself. During a difficult period in our lives, she has shown both of us ways to cope with the trials and tribulations of raising and being a teenage boy. My son has learned that he must take responsibility for his actions and how communicating his feelings to others will help him through his life. Dari also instilled in him the benefits of getting a job, which he has and loves it! I also have greatly benefitted from her advice, I have learned that sometimes I need to stop being a mom at all times and do something for myself, as well as to stop worrying about what could happen and live in the present. I now realize that no one is perfect, especially teenage children. Dari has played a very important role in giving us the tools we needed to love and grow as a family. Thank you again Dari!"
"I first met Dari at a church-sponsored mother/daughter retreat. She spoke eloquently of her commitment to the health and well-being of young women. Immediately I had a sense of her genuine goodness. Her approach to love, and life was practical, and focused on giving our daughters the tools they needed most to protect themselves, to stay smart and strong during their transitional years between youth and adulthood. Since that retreat we have remained connected to Dari. She has lent her wisdom, and insight to each missed step in our lives, whether it related to my daughter directly, myself, or to our family. Not only is Dari an active listener, but she provokes thought, and self-discovery, giving encouragement to keep us grounded, and to be practical. Whether our concerns are financial, emotional, or stategical—what is the next step?— Dari doesn't miss a beat. Her warmth, and understanding, takes you in, and her knowledge, and experience guides you out, back into life with renewed hope and focus. We are truly blessed to have her."
"As a guy, I started going to Dari when I was sixteen and right out of a hospital. It was a very hard time in my life, but Dari helped me through it for the next two years of my life. She helped fortify my direction and drive to a successful future and not waste it away, while maintaining a balance that my life could cooperate with well. She taught me great coping mechanisms (One being awesome ZenGardens) and helped me through issues as they entered my life. I used to overlook every detail and saw the world through a dark veil but Dari helped me see the world as a better place and taught me to not hold onto grudges so ardently. From starting as a Sophomore in high school who lacked drive to now being a Senior graduating high school and going to a great college, I have to thank Dari for her caring work in helping me out with my problems."
"Dari came into my life when I needed her most. Everything in my world felt like it was falling apart around me: my job, my school work, my family relationships, my relationships with men, and even my best friends. I didn't know how to handle what was happening in my life and didn't think it was even possible. Dari taught me otherwise. She helped me grow in so many ways. Because of her I have become the confident, successful, and optimistic woman I am today. Her kindness, eagerness to understand and help, and sincere concern changed my life for the better. Not only have I gained a trustworthy, honest, and caring confidante in Dari, but I have also gained a friend." Age 21 female
"Our daughter (age 6) was recently diagnosed with ADHD. Her behavior was out of control: very defiant, would not listen, and having many meltdowns. We were VERY frustrated and in need of help since our daughter was not responding to discipline strategies that worked for other kids. Dari gave us the techniques and proper tools to effectively discipline, gain control of our household, and find happiness again. She has helped restore our confidence as parents and peace in our lives. The difference in our daughter over the last few months is amazing! We are so thankful that we have Dari to guide us through this difficult journey." Mom & Dad age 42
"My overall experience with Dari has been both extremely helpful & very enjoyable. I feel comfortable speaking with her and within weeks of many meetings I was able to apply what I've learned from her and improve myself". 14 year old boy
"My teenage daughter was with a well known therapist for the last 7 YEARS and seemed to be getting nowhere. When she walked out of a session she was still down and the other therapist didn't give my daughter coping mechanisms to deal with life. Since we have been going to Dari my daughter's self-confidence has been boosted and she feels like she can finally cope with life. She walks out of Dari's office smiling and with a positive attitude- I couldn't ask for anything more (I think Dari is wonderful!)" mom age 45
"I am a male, age 58, who had come to see Dari on the recommendation of a high school counselor. My 18 year old daughter was in crisis and was nearly admitted to Morristown Memorial. My daughter was not too keen on the notion of working with a counselor. Her first experience with a counselor years before was not very positive. Based on her situation, we agreed that she needed to try counseling again. She had been under the care of a psychiatrist for a number of months before her crisis. Dari was the first counselor we saw and on leaving her office my daughter whispered to me that she did not see any need in meeting the others under consideration. Dari's office is a calm, soothing, and safe place for all, patients and their parents. It really sets the tone for everything that follows from a therapeutic perspective. Dari worked effectively at developing a rapport with my daughter. Her constant message of empowerment helped my daughter begin to improve. She also worked very closely with me and made herself available over the phone or for an appointment to allow me to participate in my daughter's care, while respecting her right to privacy at all times. Dari's message of empowerment is important for parents as well. During the time my daughter worked with her, I was in the process of divorcing. She helped me understand how to navigate a very difficult course and helped keep my daughter and myself whole. Dari worked very effectively to help my daughter and I to actively work through an extremely difficult time. She helped us begin to learn how to build new lives together!"
